Pieter Pretorius is a Consultant Neuroradiologist who completed his specialist training in Oxford and now practices as a Diagnostic Neuroradiologist in both the NHS (Oxford University Hospitals) and Private Practice. Pieter Pretorius qualified in medicine (MBChB - cum laude) from the University of the Free State in South Africa in 1993. He won a Rhodes Scholarship to study at Oxford University where he completed an MSc in Radiology. He was a Specialist Registrar in Radiology in Oxford from 1998 – 2002 after which he was appointed to a 2 year Fellowship in Neuroradiology at the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford. In 2005 he was appointed to his current post as Consultant Neuroradiologist in the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. His clinical role involves diagnostic Neuroradiology and Head & Neck Radiology, specifically the interpretation of MRI and CT scans of the brain, spine, skull base and head & neck in adults and children. He has particular interests in brain tumour imaging, skull base as well as imaging of patients with Neurofibromatosis type 2.
