Your care team will let you know if there’s anything you need to do to prepare for your appointment, for example if you need to avoid eating before or what to bring with you.

At your first consultation, your doctor will discuss what to expect during any tests, scans or treatments you need. They’ll ask you to complete a consent form before any procedures or treatment. This is a standard requirement and helps make sure you understand exactly what to expect. If you’re unsure of anything, please just ask. Your consultant will take the time to explain and provide additional resources for you if needed.
You can also ask your care team questions at any time if you have any queries or need advice. They’re here to help you throughout your treatment and beyond.
Your care team will give you plenty of advice about what to expect following your appointment. We have plenty of resources such as brochures and webpages to help you, from what’ll happen during your treatment sessions to nutritional advice to help manage symptoms.
For diagnostic tests and scans, we’ll let you know when you can expect your results. We always aim to get these back to your doctor as soon as possible so you don’t have to wait long.
If you’re having treatment, you’ll be given advice about aftercare, what to do once you’re home and any potential side effects and how to manage them. We’ll arrange follow-ups with you to check how you’re doing and that the treatment is working as expected.
